Hycroft Mine Carbon Columns

New double 5-column Carbon Column Gold Recovery system for Hycroft Mine in Winnemucca, Nevada was designed by Leavitt & Associates Engineers, Inc. and supplied on a fast-tracked schedule. The CIC was designed in December, fabricated in January and installed and started up in February. Yanke Machine Shop fabricated and installed the system. The building permit was secured in 3 days due to experienced guidance from Leavitt & Associates and excellent service from Humboldt County Building Department. Bobby Thomas, Humboldt County Building Official stated, “We like the layout of the calculations and drawings submitted by Leavitt & Associates.”

The system was designed for 2500 gallons per minute. By June, due to process needs the plant was operating at a record 3300 gallons per minute. In July the mine decided to double the capacity by dividing the dual 5-column CIC into dual 2-column and 3-column systems. Foundations were poured, two support platforms were fabricated, Derrick screens were installed, new stair access was provided and piping modifications were completed. Again, on a fast-tracked schedule the CIC additions and modifications from design to installation were completed within a short 2 week period. Mine personnel were amazed and pleased
